There is not profit motive in stopping the war.

Once upon a time in the USA there was something called the "fairness doctrine" whereby when an opinion was given over the peoples airways a counter opinion was sought and granted the same amount of airtime. It was a valuable tool and needs to be reinstiuteed

When the fairness doctine ended the quick slide to the abyss of absent/meaningless information permeated the airwaves and grew to what we now have.

Future generations may never know or understand what fairness and accuracy in journalism means or is.

In regards to television the slide of the media to sub mediocraty (the news shows) evolved about the time Rupert Murdoch (FOX) started airing his own news. Having been granted a special expiditious Citizenship by none other than George H.W. Bush the nations 41st President.

The news was out of the mainstream which had been labled "liberal" by the republicans for so long that people began to believe it...using those same words themselves to try to explain the degenerative disease they were watching.

Of course the republican machine was delighted for Rupert, their new poster boy of journalism and wealth. FOX news was the choice of the republican voters (35% of the voters) giving FOX the highest ratings. The other 65% were divided between ABC, CBS, NBC and of course the cable news channels (CNN etc.).

The other broadcaster's took note and began to emulate FOX and we are in a media mess that is robbing the nation of the information that is needed to right a terrible wrong.

According to Robert McChesney the author of Media Matters in the 21st Century, even though it may be true that reporters are more likely to be democrats the senior editors and owners of the media companies are almost all republicans. Since it is the senior editors and owners that determine what will be reported, the allegation of a liberal leading media is way off base.

Big media like big oil and utility companies need to be broken up into small bits so they can be drowned in the bath tub with Grover Norquist, KKKarl Rove and the rest of the PNAC fascists.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35873213.post-66415728277073071522007-05-26T16:49:00.000-05:002007-05-26T16:49:00.000-05:00At least there's blogs, internet radio, and news w...At least there's blogs, internet radio, and news websites where we can get a better look at the news.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
